Crowhurst Yew (Surrey)

A cannonball was once lodged in this hollow Surrey yew — a Civil War relic, according to village memory. The tree has been a measured celebrity since the 17th century and remains one of the great churchyard yews of the Weald.

Do not confuse with the Crowhurst yew in East Sussex.
