Bettws Newydd Pulpit Yew
Taxus baccata · Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, Wales · SO 362 062
A wooden pulpit was built inside the hollow bole so that an open-air congregation could be preached to from the tree itself. Few British trees have been quite so literally ordained.
The pulpit is a modern insertion in an ancient hollow; treat the interior with care.
